Movement, dance, style and freedom are the values shared by both Sia and Maison Repetto. Throughout the past year, Repetto’s team and Sia came together to creatively build a collaboration capturing the spirit of everyone who lives to their own beat.

The capsule collection of shoes will include three Repetto iconic styles, available in several colors, driven by Sia’s mantra, “I love you, keep going”. • Pistonhead Foundation and Luger is back with the third edition of Made By with the curator Leslie Tay

    Written by Fashion Tales

Pistonhead Foundation has always been convinced that the attention of, and contributions to, progressive creators’ work is a prerequisite for the development of Swedish culture. Pistonhead and Luger are now back with the third edition of the concept Made By, a concept where the want to allow creative individuals to fully live out there dreams. During the year, Made By will take place at four occasions. Now it is time for the third edition, held the 29th of September at Lilla Hotellbaren in Stockholm, where the music producers, songwriter and artist Leslie Tay will cure the night.

The debate about sponsoring art has been going on for a long time. Some believe that creators' driving forces and platforms are exploited by brands to small sums at the expense of the genuineness of the artistic expression. At the same time, there are also many who consider that the financial contribution of business is crucial for cultural development.

Through the concept of Made By, Luger, who usually arranges both festivals and concerts, and the Pistonhead Foundation, a foundation initiated by Spendrups, who since its inception, wanted to promote and push the development of Swedish culture forward, further reinforce their work for creative individuals. Made By now gives some selected creators the opportunity to create opportunities based entirely on their creative fantasies.

The Pistonhead Foundation is convinced that creative individuals make everyday life better for everyone, and their work is important for the way we look at modern culture. Luger shares these thoughts and we have previously created the music concept On-Tour together with the Pistonhead Foundation. Now we take the step forward and develop the concept where different creative expressions can meet, and where creators get increased creative freedom.” Says Peter Björklund, Marketing Patnership Manager at Luger.

Artist's duo Atlas Television and the collective Nuda were the first to cure the first two occasions. Now, for the third edition, it is the music producer, songwriter and artist Leslie Tay who hosts together with his friends. Leslie is raised in Seved, in the district of Södra Sofielund in Malmö, something that has been depicted and important in his music. Leslie began his music career as a music producer and songwriter for others, but in 2014 he released his first album “Vems fel”. Since then, Leslie Tay has released the EP “12 år” 2015, and the album “Vilja & Tålamod” in 2018. On the 29th of September, Leslie Tay will have a take-over at Lilla Hotellbaren in Stockholm together with his friends.

I’m music, but I’m also a big fan of music. That’s why it's really exciting to cure an evening where I get the chance to invite artists, music producers and DJs, which I'm inspired by. I think the recipe for creating a successful night at the club consists of good music and good friends. We will deliver the good music and will let the guests arrive together with their friend.” says Leslie Tay.

During the night, Leslie Tay will bring his friends and artists Florendt, Saint and Jaqe. Florendt is an 18-year-old artist from Kristianstad who started producing beats at the age of 15 and has released several singles in 2018. Saint is a 21-year-old music producer, songwriter and artist born in Gambia, who came to Sweden in 2012 as a refugee with only a backpack of clothes, today he is celebrated for his music creation. Jaqe is an already established artist from Malmö who broke through in the early 90s. Later in the evening there will be three different DJ crews playing; Josef & Jelassi, Black Moose and Jones.

Third edition of Made By will take place at Lilla Hotellbaren in Stockholm on the 29th of September! RSVP through the link: https://made-by-leslie-tay.confetti.events/ which will give you free entry throughout the evening. The age limit is 18 years until 22:00, and 20 years afterwards.

  • Helly Hansen's AW18 Lifaloft™ Technology

    Written by Meghan Scott

Norwegian performance apparel brand, Helly Hansen, has pushed the boundaries in their arena for the past 140 years, always innovating and pushing forward. With the release of their patented material base layer Lifaloft™ this AW18, a design created to withdraw perspiration away from the body via a mesh construction that enables moisture transportation to an outer layer.

Innovation and heritage are the ethos of Helly Hansen, the brand’s dedication to their customer to enable the choice to select their gear like a pro. Collaborating with top skiers’ from the Swedish Ski team; Emelie Wikström and Mattias Hargin, each season improves with a hands-on approach. Both skiers say that including design, production and testing the AW18 collection which includes the newly patented Lifaloft technology, has taken a whole three years to develop. Their involvement is typically exceptional within the sportswear and performance occupations, with other brands not being as involved in their sponsored individuals needs, opting for what they consider their desires are whilst performing in their respective weather conditions.

The brand introduced the first supple waterproof fabrics in 1877, the first pile mid-layers (the precursor to fleece) in the 1960s, the first performance base layers made with Lifa® in the 1970s, and the H2Flow™, a temperature regulation system in the 2000s. To continue the train of innovation, Fall/Winter 2018 unveils an all-new, proprietary synthetic insulation - Lifaloft™. Developed in cooperation with PrimaLoft®, Lifaloft™ is a combination of Lifa®’s unique insulation structure and PrimaLoft®’s extensive knowledge in synthetic insulation. It is lighter and less bulky than standard polyester insulation alternatives, yet is still warmer due to the unique structure of Lifa® fibers woven into the construction.

H/H has created a stronger connection between their product and consumer, and yes, fashion. The Swedes are known for their impenitent Scandinavian style, typically looking pulled together most of the time. The idea to have two of their top skiers to input their expertise, the two naturally have great personal style. In addition, the work of the Managing Director and Head of Production, Philip Tavell, H/H’s Global Category Managing Director, who oversees the ski, outdoor, fleece and base layer aspects of the company, radiates style himself. With a team of dedicated outerwear designers, an authentic and stylish line of slopes to street gear is perfected.

  • Sweden celebrates 85 years with Josef Frank

    Written by Fashion Tales

This year marks 85 years since one of Sweden’s most renowned designers came and enriched his new homeland with colourful prints and timeless interiors. To commemorate this, Svenskt Tenn has created an exhibition presenting a mix of newly produced and classic designs, as well as objects from the archives – all created by Josef Frank.

Josef and Anna Frank left their homeland, Austria, in December 1933 due to the rise of anti-Semitism. In January 1934, Josef Frank began a lifelong collaboration with Svenskt Tenn’s founder Estrid Ericson.

With this tribute exhibition we want to show the breadth of Josef Frank’s creativity and how much his designs have contributed to Swedish design history and the present,” says Thommy Bindefeld, marketing manager and creative director.

This autumn’s big fabric news is Josef Frank’s Baranquilla, which is now being launched with a black base. There will also be a number of new launches from the archives: Cabinet 2215 is a classic piece of furniture that will return to Svenskt Tenn’s range in 2018, together with a sideboard, a stool a classic captain’s chair and a round dining table.

Estrid Ericson felt that a round dining table with room for eight people was the most suitable for serving dinner, so all of the dinner guests could see and hear each other. Our customers have also been asking for a large, round dining table and subsequently, table 1020 has returned to our range,” says Bindefeld.

Ann Wall, who was the company’s managing director from 1979 to 1999, initiated the tribute exhibition. She also turns 85 in September, which is something that Svenskt Tenn would like to acknowledge.

Ann Wall laid the foundation for the commercial cultural institution that is Svenskt Tenn today and initiated the business concept that the company has followed ever since – to continue Estrid Ericson and Josef Frank’s legacy with a modern twist,” says Maria Veerasamy, CEO at Svenskt Tenn.

The Frank 85 exhibition is open from September 21th to October 28th, 2018.
